The chromium forms an oxide film on the material which makes it corrosion resistant. Alloy 303SE is the most readily machineable austenitic stainless steel. Cannot be hardened by heat treatment, but hardenable by cold working to obtain with higher tensile strength. Non-magnetic. This alloy offers excellent machinability. This alloy also has good strength and good corrosion resistance.
